Mr. Goodyear's Neighborhood - Trina Taylor, Prevent Child Abuse Utah
Child abuse is a difficult topic, but it needs to be addressed, especially here in Utah where we rank 8th in the nation for substantiated child abuse cases in the nation. Just in Utah, that equates to about 12,000 child abuse cases a year affecting 1 in 5 boys and 1 in 3 girls between the ages of 6-11.
Child abuse affects us all in some way, either personally or economically. Prevention is the key and in this episode of Mr. Goodyear’s Neighborhood, the executive director of Prevent Child Abuse Utah (Ogden Chapter), Trina Taylor, discusses how we can all take charge and help prevent child abuse.
At the time of this interview, professional runner and Prevent Child Abuse ambassador, Chad Weller, was also scheduled to sit down with us but was delayed in Denver while in route from Miami to Utah. Chad eventually made it to Ogden before competing in the North Face Challenge 50 mile Ultra Marathon in Park City on October 4th. While in Ogden, a small group of us took Chad on a tune-up run along the Bonneville shoreline trail where we intersected with many local runners who were very friendly and patient as I introduced Chad to everybody I knew on the trail – you know who you are, thank you for being so friendly and hospitable.
